Trainee CNC Engineer

Trainees wanted!

CNC Machinists

Due to continued growth and expansion plans we are seeking additional CNC millers and turners to join our team.

We have day shifts and late shifts available.

Duties:
• Programming/setting/operating machines to produce components of an exceptional standard.
• Machine maintenance – topping up oil, coolants etc.
• Adhering to high standards of working at all times.

Person Specification:
• Able to interpret technical drawings.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Methodical and organised.
• Team player
• Experience of CAM software beneficial.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Experience of CMM and measuring equipment beneficial.

Estimator

Due to expansion AKP are looking for an experienced estimator to join our busy sub-contract workshop. You will be responsible for providing cost estimates to produce components by CNC Milling and Turning.

This is ideally a full time position but part time will be considered for the right candidate.

Duties will include:
• Interpret customer requirements from drawings, specifications and models.
• Define process routing and estimate set up & cycle times.
• Obtain prices for any external processes and materials.
• Create quotations for clients within target response time using the companies software system.
• Liaise with suppliers and customers.
• Liaise with our engineers regarding tooling, fixtures and scheduling.
• Ordering of materials, special tools and gauges.

Person Specification:
• Methodical and organised
• Excellent communication skills – both written & verbal
• Computer literate
• Good eye for detail
• Must be experienced in the reading of drawings in an engineering environment.
• Work well under pressure and to deadlines.
• Be able to update KPI’s as necessary.

Production Manager

Due to expansion and continued growth plans, AKP are looking for an experienced Production Manager to manage and oversee our precision engineering operations.

Duties:
• Day to day management of factory resources, including people, materials, plant and processes.
• Leading the engineering activities of CNC programmers and machinists to ensure delivery of products are to the customers specification.
• Oversee internal and external training of the manufacturing team
• Work planning; inclusive of holding regular progress meetings, raising factory & sub-contract work orders, ensuring that employees maintain necessary routing & quality documentation.
• Pre-planning on works orders to ensure all tooling and gauges are available.
• Liaising with customers.
• Ensuring KPI’s are adhered to.
• Actively participating in continuous improvement activities.

Person Specification:
• Previous experience working in a similar role, ideally within a CNC/machine shop or component manufacturing environment.
• Strong people skills with the ability to motivate, lead and mentor factory personnel of varying abilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Computer literate.
• CNC milling and turning experience, preferably with FANUC controls.
• Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Methodical and organised

Quality Control Inspector

To support our continued growth AKP are looking for an experienced engineering Quality Control Inspector to join our team.

This is full time position and you must be able to interpret engineering drawings.

Duties:
• Verify components to drawings and technical specifications.
• Ensuring components are inspected for first off approval, final inspection, ISIR / FAIR reports and NCR’s.
• Liaise with the engineering team and dispatch.
• Complete paperwork including dimensional and first article reports.
• Liaise with customers.

Person Specification:
• Experience in interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience in using various mechanical measuring tools such as micrometres, verniers, plug/thread gauges and shadowgraphs/
• Experience of working within an ISO9001/AS9100D environment.
• Organised and methodical.
• Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
• Computer literate and good communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of using a CMM beneficial.
